Jeanine kicked off the first event on August 1st. It is a Kids’ Flick, and it is free for children 12 years of age or younger. The featured movie is The Incredible 2 which is rated PG. This event will take place at the community center on 17th Street in Saint Cloud.

Kristin then announced a Food Truck Frenzy on August 2nd which will feature the Saucy Spoon and Sweet Rolled Taco’s. This event will happen at Lakeshore Park at Buck Lake.

Thrive Thursday Featuring Health Cooking Demos At Hopkins Park St Cloud FL

Next up Jeanine announced will be Thrive Thursday on August 3rd from 6:30 – 7:30 PM at Hopkins Park. This event will feature healthy cooking demos. Attend to find the path to being healthier and happier. This event is put on by Parks and Recreation, you can email them for more information at parksandrecreation@stcloudfl.gov.

Kristin then announced a Pencil Bag Sewing Class on August 4th at Southern Roots Antiques at 4:00 PM. They invite you to come and create your own back-to-school pencil bag. Ages 7 years and up are welcome and no prior sewing experience is needed. All sewing machines and supplies are provided along with a $35 fee per person. Give them a call at 407-480-7888. Hero For Kids on August 5th from 11 – 1 PM at the Staples Parking Lot Jeanine announced where they will be giving away free backpacks. This is such a great event for families in need.

Kristin mentioned the next event which is the Back to School Bash on August 5th from 11-2 PM at Hopkins Park put on by Parks and Recreation. If you want to register in advance, you can do that and receive a free backpack. They will have food, games, music, a bounce house, haircuts, educational information, school supplies, and more. Sparkle Dance Day At Moon Light Dance Studio In Saint Cloud

Jeanine announced the next event is the Sparkle Dance Day. There will be free dance classes for ages one through 4 years of age. There will be cupcakes, teddy bears, and sparkling dance. Sparkle Day will give you a chance to check out their twinkle star dance program and see what classes will be like for the fall season. An R.S.V.P is required as spots are limited. It will take place on August 5th at 9:30 am is the time slot for the 1 and 2 years olds and 10 AM for the 3 and 4 years olds. The event will be held at the Moon Light Dance Studio located at 2001 13h Street in St. Cloud. The contact number is 689-215-2213. Their website is MyMLDS.com.

Kristin then talked about the back-to-school sales tax holiday so certain clothing, footwear, and accessories with a price tag of $100 or less per item and certain school supplies with a sales tag of $50 or less per item are eligible. There are a ton of exemptions, and you can find all those online at FloridaRevenue.com/backtoschool.

Osceola County Back To School Open Houses Begin

All School's open houses begin on Monday, August 7th. All high schools are included starting with Osceola County School for the Arts grades 6-12. The open house will be on Monday, August 7th from 4-7 PM at your local high school.

Tuesday, August 8th is all middle schools and K-8 schools, and they will hold their open house from 4-7 PM on this day. On Wednesday, August 9th all Elementary schools will have their open house from 3-6 PM. This is the day before school starts.

Thursday, August 10th is the first day of school and there are some bell changes to be aware of. It looks like the middle schools and high schools are the ones with changes. They are going to start at 9:30 AM, as they were at 9:20 AM last year. Go to your schools’ websites and check for all start and stop times for each day.

Jeanine stated the next event is Adult Matinee Movie “Red” starring Bruce Willis on August 16th from 12:30 – 2:25 PM at the Community Center which is on 17th Street. The cost is free.

Downtown Saint Cloud Florida Sidewalk Sale

Kristin said the next event is the Downtown Sidewalk Sale on August 19th. The annual downtown sidewalk sale is from 10 – 2 PM and is held in Downtown St. Cloud. You will find a lot of end-of-summer markdowns and clearance items from your favorite downtown shops.
